The fridge is open, one cat is on top of it, one cat is inside it, and a third is eating the snacks off the floor — a perfectly normal kitchen situation. This hilariously relatable and wonderfully detailed 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle from Magnolia is the seventh illustration in Seul Grim's beloved series, and it might be her funniest yet. A late-night fridge raid in a cozy Korean apartment, rendered in Grim's signature soft watercolor style with every drawer, magnet, and contraband snack lovingly accounted for.
Seul Grim's In the Kitchen is a masterpiece of domestic comedy — a warm, sun-drenched kitchen scene in which a young woman with a long brown braid opens the refrigerator to find that the cats have entirely taken over the situation. The fridge is open and glowing, its shelves packed with an endearingly specific assortment of Korean pantry staples — eggs, milk cartons, condiments, a pizza box, canned drinks, sauces, and snacks — each rendered with the detailed, affectionate care that defines Grim's illustration style. A large calico cat has wedged itself with supreme confidence into the open fridge compartment, one paw reaching toward a slice of watermelon with cheerful determination. On top of the fridge, an orange tabby drapes across the surface in the deepest possible nap, completely unbothered. On the floor, a black-and-white cow-spotted plush cat toy sits surrounded by spilled snacks in Korean packaging — a tub of something, a torn bag of chips — the evidence of a raid already in progress. The kitchen walls are covered with cat-themed magnets, recipe cards, a watermelon popsicle illustration, a bubble tea drawing, and small decorative prints. A green electric fan hums in the lower left, kitchen shelves hold a rice cooker, colorful canisters and boxes, and a green plaid curtain frames the pantry. To the right, counter shelves display a pot, utensils, a spotted strawberry bowl, and a dark night-sky window. The whole scene glows with the warm, lived-in energy of a real home at its most comfortably chaotic
