Four paintings of Old Tbilisi — in autumn rain, winter snow, warm nostalgia, and the golden glow of a city that wears its age like a masterpiece — this is one of the most atmospherically beautiful and cohesive puzzle sets in the entire Magnolia lineup. This set of four 260 piece jigsaw puzzles showcases the extraordinary oil painting art of Georgian artist David Martiashvili, whose richly textured, emotionally charged street scenes capture the soul of Tbilisi's historic architecture with the depth and warmth of a great European painter.
This David Martiashvili puzzle set brings together four of his most beloved Tbilisi street scenes, each one a luminous, deeply textured oil painting that rewards close, patient assembly with layers of color, atmosphere, and quietly observed human life.
Old Tbilisi is a vibrant, densely colorful street facade — a row of tall, characterful buildings in deep teal, rose, gold, and brick press together along a rain-dampened autumn street, their balconies, arched windows, wooden shutters, and ornate facades telling the story of a city that has lived long and beautifully. Autumn trees blaze orange and gold at street level, a magnificent vintage red car is parked before the buildings, and two figures with a dog pause in the foreground. The entire composition glows with the warmth and texture of a city loved deeply by its painter.
Autumn Rain shifts the mood to something more quietly melancholic and tender — two tall, narrow buildings in deep teal-green and cobalt blue rise against a luminous sunset sky, their facades weathered and textured with the beautiful decay of time. A figure with an umbrella stands on the rooftop of one building, another woman appears on a balcony below, and a solitary figure walks the wet street at ground level beside a vintage green car. Autumn leaves carpet the pavement, rain falls softly through the warm evening light, and the whole scene carries the bittersweet beauty of a city at the turning of a season.
Snow in Old Tbilisi is a magnificent winter scene — a grand ornate building with arched entranceway, carved stone detailing, wooden balconies, and decorated facades sits beneath a fresh snowfall, its warm interior light glowing through the windows into the cold blue-white street. A black vintage car is parked before the entrance, two figures in winter coats stand in quiet conversation on the snowy pavement, and bare purple trees frame the composition on either side. The contrast between the building's extraordinary architectural richness and the hushed, snow-covered street gives this painting a cinematic, deeply romantic quality.
Nostalgia in Tbilisi is the most colorful and expansive of the four — a wide street of low, densely packed historic buildings in an extraordinary range of colors stretches across the frame, their facades a patchwork of terracotta, teal, gold, pink, green, and cream, decorated with arched windows, ornate plasterwork, wooden balconies, and hanging laundry. Mountains rise in blue distance behind the rooftops, trees are visible above the facades, a vintage red car sits at street level, and several figures go about their day in the warm afternoon light. The scene has the quality of a city portrait painted with total, affectionate devotion.
